Types of Ringworms that you should know

Ringworms are skin problems caused by infectious fungi. It is called tinea in medical term. It have different types of ringworms grows in our scalp and body.

These types are:

1.       Tinea Capitis

2.       Tinea barbae

3.       Tinea corporis

4.       Tinea faciei

5.       Tinea unquium

6.       Tinea pedis

 

The disease in the scalp is called Tinea capitis. When our scalps is scaly and have dandruff, it becomes itchy.

Tinea barbae is also called barber’s itch. It is ringworm found in the bearded area of the face and neck of one’s person. When our skin is swelling and crust in texture, itchiness occurs. If the small and unwanted hairs still remain after we shave, this skin problem occurs when it got infectious.

When we see a red round shape worm in one part of our body, we have Tinea corporis. It is ringworm found in our body parts. Rashes in our face except the beard area are called Tinea faciei. It is not usually ring shaped. It is characterized as dry and scaly.

Tinea unquium is ringworm found on fingernails. The fungus can make the nails yellow, thick and breakable. The last type is Tinea pedis. This skin problem triggers if you have athlete’s foot, thick and scaling heels and soles. It is also known as the tinea of the foot.
